Knowledge is power and access to the Internet has empowered those who can use its tools. Whether for good or ill, that’s the fact. A person in China or India can find out if a lawyer in Des Moines, Iowa, could help them [or vice versa]. In the U.S., we are similarly inter-connected. If someone comments on a topic [whether on a website, blog, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or some other Web 2.0 application] sitting in an office in Alaska, others scattered all over the country can find and weigh that comment and use it.
I'm preparing today for a presentation on Social Networking and what I said in part of the presentation applies here as well:
- Before: Static, one-way provision of information [websites, media organizations]
- What is ‘social networking’? A part of the ‘New Media’ [blogs, podcasts, wikis, etc.]
- Key elements: people, participation, persuasion
[thanks to: The Twitter Handbook, page 22, from http://twitterhandbook.com/ ]
[I'll hope to post the presentation on SlideShare & will note that here, when done]
